Speak Up! You can do it.

Since the second half of last century, English has become a world language. It does not mean that it is the most spoken language in the planet. That one is Chinese, which is largely confined to China. English on the other hand is spoken throughout the world.
As you can see, the importance of English is not only due to the number of speakers, but  also why it is used for.
Large companies intending to do international business really need to make use of English during the negotiations. It does not matter if the country is in Africa, Asia, Europe or America. When  researchers have to publish their discovery, they do it in a respected journal, in English. If a pop singer wants to be successful in an international career, he or she must have a good repertory in English. If you have a dream of packing your bag and go for a travel around Europe, well, memorize these words: obrigado, gracias, grazie, merci, danke. For the remaining, just care about English. You will be able to communicate in hotels, hostels, transportations and restaurants in large cities or touristic places in most of Europeans countries. But there is always an exception. As says the legend, you will find some kind of resistence from French people to speak English with you.
English is also the official language, together with French, for international meetings and events, since the United Nations Conferences to the Olympic Games.
Probably,a language had never had  such integration of different cultures in humanity history before. Because of music, movies and TV, English language has been spread to all parts of the world. And more and more people wish to speak and understand the language.
Moreover, technology has increased  the popularity of English in a way never seen before. Computers, gadgets, devices, machines, vehicles and all sort of equipment, no matter where made, have their displays, keyboards and instructions in English.
 And at last, I could not finish this article without quoting the most revolutionary technology in our lives in the past 15 years. The Internet. It has been providing the access of millions of people to the learning of  English, in lots of cases, for free. This contributes to a more united world in which we can communicate with the same language and respect the differences. And here we are!
